Welcome to the magic of belonging.
I’ve been researching, investigating and writing about belonging for several years and this website contains some of my thoughts, interviews and experiences. I initially started by writing about myself and my life in four different countries, but writing about me all the time was a teeny bit tedious. So, because I’m the sort of person who talks with anyone, anywhere, I started asking more questions and listening to you and your stories. That’s how I became the Writer Out Of Residence and the Pop-Up Story Catcher. I’ve appeared at festivals, libraries, cultural centres, cafes and hospitals. Anywhere you are, because you’re fascinating and I love hearing your stories.
Is belonging the most compelling question of the 21st century, as one BBC Radio commentator suggested? What does belonging mean to you as an individual? How have you built belonging, or are you like me, living in a philosophical construction zone?
Come hang out in Your Stories where you can meet Yassmin Abdel-Magied, Alain de Botton, Alison Wearing, and Michael Mohammed Ahmad and lots of other fascinating people.
If you’re interested in learning more about neuroscience and belonging, or just cool stuff about belonging, Interesting Ephemera is the place for you.
Every time I listen to someone’s story, to your story, I come away inspired, awed, and humbled.
Despite what we see on the news, there is great magic in our world and incredible resilience in all of you.
If you would like to share your story with me, I would love to hear from you. Drop me an email !
